Tacardra Rountree is a native of Augusta, Georgia. She is an author, public speaker,
and educator. Rountree has her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood
Education from Fort Valley State University (Fort Valley, GA) and her Master of
Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota
(Minneapolis, MN).
She is the author of Writings From Down Through the Years (2013) and Hello Queen
(2018). Writings From Down Through the Years is a compilation of inspirational poetry
and readings. Rountree seeks to motivate, inspire, and honor heritage through various
expressions of poetry.
Hello Queen is her second book and first children's picture book. It is illustrated by
Audrey “Sala Adenike” Jeter- Allen. Hello Queen is a poetic portrayal of what a Queen
represents - beauty, intelligence, determination, and more.
Rountree seeks to encourage and inspire others with her heartfelt words. She is always
excited to share her books with schools and libraries. Her poetry has appeared in the
newsletters of educational organizations and has been read at various programs and
conferences. Her work is in two anthologies, Moments of Reflection and Joy and
Treasured Poems of America (Fall 1996 Edition). Rountree was a Featured Author at
the Palmetto State Literacy Association’s 45th Annual Conference.
In addition to writing poetry, Rountree enjoys traveling, liturgical dancing and public
speaking. One of her favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have
for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you
hope and a future. Rountree currently resides in South Carolina.
