I write because I have a huge imagination and it’s the only way for me to get it out. I also wrote because I grew up feeling invisible and writing gave me a voice. I was inspired by personal experience and watching kids who grew up like I did.As a writer, poet, songwriter, teacher and director, Seeing Things in Black and White is my most daring work. Written over the course of 9 years, I’ve drawn inspiration from various points in my life. Throughout this 9 year period, I became an educator, a writer for theatre, and a director, which all served as an influencing factor in the composition of this story.
