Neal Owens was born and raised in Washington, DC. He wrote his first story in the fifth grade but didn’t consider writing a profession when he pondered career choices. As a young man, he volunteered at the Metropolitan Police Boys and Girls to serve a sports coach and mentor for at-risk youth. He later joined the organization as one of the facilities managers and met the Queen of England when she visited the facility on May 15, 1991.
After 33 years of service, Mr. Owens resigned as Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and decided to pursue his passion for writing novels and short stories.
Naturally gifted with the art of making imagination feels real, Mr. Owens had to learn the technical aspects of writing, so he took an online novel course and joined writing communities to enhance his talent. His debut novel, Mirrors of Life, released in August 2019, recently won the Silver Award from Literary Titan, an organization of professional editors, writers, and professors.
The next novel from this award-winning author, Mirrors of Life Part 2: The Fight for Political Power, will drop on September 15, 2020.
Brief Synopsis
Set in today’s political climate, Derrick, the young African American venture capitalist learns political strength is needed to ensure the sustainability of his civic-minded conglomerate, and prevent the blockage of future projects that threatens the business powers that be.
In the fight for political power, His mother, Yvonne, who has raised her children to leap over the systematic roadblocks that confine many to juvenile delinquency, spearheads the grassroots voting initiative to change the leadership in Congress.
Erich Hornsby, the Neo-Nazi chairman of the business powers, plots Derrick’s murder and manipulates the voters to elect his puppet, John Donaldson, president. In full control of the White House, Hornsby attempts to raise the Fourth Reich.
This realistic contemporary tale is both insightful and chilling.
