Patrice Grimball, the Director of Book Reviews at Aspiring Authors Magazine LLC and Librarian Specialist at Charleston County Public Library, has touched the lives of countless readers and authors alike.

Known affectionately as SCBookGal843, Patrice has spent the last decade sharing her love for books through her pseudonym. With a preference for urban fiction and works that highlight diversity, especially those by African-American authors, Patrice has carved a unique path that resonates with readers all over.

But her passion for reading reaches far beyond personal enjoyment. Patrice's reading choices are guided by a desire to escape the ordinary and delve into stories featuring main characters of color. For her, this goes beyond mere entertainment; it is a gateway to relatability and a celebration of her own identity. It is an opportunity to share enriching experiences with her daughter and son, creating memories and connections that will last a lifetime.

In February 2023, Patrice took her love for literature to new heights by collaborating with HTA Enterprises to launch her podcast show, aptly named "SCBookGal & Friends Chats." In honor of International Women's History Month, we would like to shine the spotlight on an exceptional queen, Regina Osang Obi, fondly known as Reigning Queen or Geena. She is an inspiring figure, surpassing expectations as an outstanding wife, mother, and leader in her community.

Geena's commitment to her family is truly remarkable. She has embraced the belief that "charity begins at home," and has nurtured her children to identify and harness their gifts and talents from a young age. As a result, her children have become trailblazers in their own right, serving as role models for other kids.

Geena's eldest daughter, Ambassador Treasure Obi, is an award-winning spoken word artist, child actor, and dancer. Her incredible talent has been recognized by various TV stations in Lagos, Nigeria, such as Rave TV, Jyb TV, Wap TV, Silverbird TV, and more. She has been invited to speak at the UN Volunteerism Report Conference, churches, and other esteemed platforms. Treasure also serves as a lifetime ambassador for The Seraphine Outreach and has received a scholarship from her primary school until the completion of her secondary education.

     

Following in her sister's footsteps, Charisma Obi, Geena's youngest daughter , is also making great strides in her artistic pursuits. She has been featured in annual poetry slams organized by American Corner and received recognition as the youngest slammer and an outstanding performer. She has graced stages at UN volunteers gala nights, church programs, and school valedictory ceremonies, captivating audiences with her enthralling performances.

Even the youngest member of the family, at just four years old, has already made her mark. Inducted into HolySpice, Geena and her children's entertainment outfit, she showcased her talents at the Cross-country Poetry Celebration, leaving everyone impressed with her excellent performance. Together, these three formidable young individuals are taking the world by storm and inspiring their fellow kids to strive for greatness.

Geena's passion for entertainment and her dedication to her craft led her to create HolySpice, an entertainment outfit that she runs alongside her children. Together, they bring the WOW factor to their clients with their scintillating music, soul-stirring spoken word renditions, and exhilarating dance moves. HolySpice is a testament to their collective talent and passion for delivering unforgettable performances.

Geena's commitment to giving back to her community is truly commendable. She volunteers with The Seraphine Outreach, an NGO dedicated to enhancing the lives of the girl child. Geena actively collaborates with the organization's founder to hold seminars and programs aimed at empowering young girls to become better versions of themselves. Alma Collins Thomas is an ordained Minister Educator,  Motivational Speaker ,Playwright and Author. She holds two B.S degrees one in Human Services with a concentration in Children and Families and a BS in Christian Studies. She is a Bible School Teacher. She is the co-author of several books including Love,Marriage and Divorce. I am and Sisters with Purpose. She has two debut books Dream Killers and From the Waiting Room to the Recovery Room. She is the single mother of two children Sabria and Tysean who left his earthly home to reign in his heavenly home in 2009.
She is a stroke survivor. She suffered a massive stroke two years ago but she still empowers and inspires others from her hospital bed.

Alma Thomas is more than just an ordained Minister, Educator, Motivational Speaker, Playwright, and Author – she is an inspiration to us all. With two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Human Services with a concentration in Children and Families, and another in Christian Studies, Alma's knowledge and expertise extend far and wide.

As a dedicated Bible School Teacher, Alma shares her wisdom with others, enlightening those around her with her deep understanding of faith and spirituality. Her co-authored books, including "Love Marriage and Divorce" and "I am and Sisters with Purpose," showcase her unique ability to uplift and guide others on their journey.

However, Alma's journey has not been without its share of challenges. In 2009, she experienced the unimaginable – the loss of her beloved son, Tysean, who left his earthly home to reign in his heavenly home. This devastating loss could have broken a lesser person, but Alma's strength shone through even in her darkest moments.

In addition to her loss , Alma herself is a survivor. Just two years ago, she suffered a massive stroke that could have left her defeated and hopeless. But that is not the Alma Thomas we know. Despite her physical limitations, Alma continues to empower and inspire others, even from her hospital bed.

Alma's resilience and determination are truly awe-inspiring. Her story serves as a reminder that no matter the challenges we face in life, we have the power within us to rise above and continue to make a difference.

Today, we want to shine a spotlight on an incredible woman who embodies strength, resilience, and the power of faith. Triveda S. Harris, born and raised in Spartanburg, SC, has faced numerous challenges throughout her life, but she has never allowed them to define her. Instead, she has used them as stepping stones to help others and spread hope.

Triveda is a loving mother to three children, Kyla, Micah, and Nathan, who provide her with endless joy and keep her grounded. She is also a proud grandmother of two, cherishing the precious moments spent with her precious grandchildren. 

Triveda's journey has not been an easy one. She is a stroke survivor and a Chiari Malformation warrior. For those who may not be aware, Chiari Malformation is a serious neurological brain condition without a cure. Despite this, Triveda has not let it hold her back. Instead, she has dedicated herself to raising awareness about this condition and being a voice for others who are affected by it.

Not only is Triveda a testament to resilience, but she is also an achiever in the professional sphere. She holds an Associate Degree in Applied Science Medical Office Administration and currently works as a Medical Receptionist for an urgent care facility. In addition to her demanding job, she is a self-published author and the proud owner of Wings Of Transformations Publishing LLC.

Triveda's literary accomplishments are truly inspiring. She has written three books that showcase her talent and her ability to channel her experiences into powerful words. Her first book, "My Poetry, My Peace; My Soul Release," is a collection of heartfelt poems. The second book, "Chiari Malformation Struggle, Strength & Success Chiari Malformation Won’t Win," delves into her personal journey with Chiari Malformation and how she has found strength in the face of adversity.
