Alone in the Dark

Baton Rouge, LA March 23rd, 2022--If I do not heal, there will be nothing left of me! My pieces are fragmented; someone, please help me!

I've cried out to God, went to church faithfully, fasted, and paid my tithes; why do I still want to end my life? Nothing is helping. Changing my hair, wearing make-up every day, the relationship, or my new job could not change how I felt about my life. I could not escape it. As much as I ran, it always found me. I am okay for so long; then it begins again. I want to feel better about myself. I want to enjoy my life, but I can not get beyond this thorn in my flesh.

Have you ever thought or done any of this? I did countless times. I questioned my existence more times than a few before I knew I was battling what you would call depression. There was a pain that left me gasping for air. There was a deep need for help that went unnoticed. I expected someone to have the answer to my problem, and when no one did, I felt rejected. Everything made me cry. Many saw my tears as a sign of adoration for them, but they were not. Some of those people I did not care for like that. Coping mechanisms muzzled those internal screams until nothing worked. I had built an immunity to a lot. I needed a more substantial hit, but even I had limits.

My battle with depression was one I fought for decades. Internally, a war was raging, and I could not take it anymore. I was so tired of fighting that it seemed easier to die or numb my feelings. Trying to stay strong for my daughter, I faked it as long as possible. Sadly, she witnessed my breakdowns, but I am grateful she also saw me heal. I learned most unpleasantly what working out my soul's salvation meant for me. It took thoughts of swallowing gasoline before I went within and saved myself.

Alone In The Dark will show you glimpses of the depressive experiences I have faced and how I coped, only to look for a way out time and time again. Read page by page as I offer holistic methods to break painful cycles of your life if you can relate.

If you are ready to take another route and get off the dark roads, join my private Facebook group Soul Conversations for support as you change the narrative. Your time is now; you owe it to yourself!

INTERVIEW WITH LATOYA

Diamond M’Press Publications: When did you start writing?

LaToya Nicole: I’ve been writing since I was a child. It was how I released and made it as far as I did. I did not realize at the time the power in what I was doing, but I thank God I wrote as often as I did.

DMP: When did you publish your first book? LN: May 24, 2020.

DMP: Tell me how your first book came about. LN: The first book was co-authored with several other women willing to share stories most keep silent about. I had taken writing courses and spoken often of publishing. When the opportunity presented itself, I went for it.

DMP: Tell me about S.O.L.O. Coaching & Consulting and Unaltered Voices Publishing company. When were these established and why?

LN: S.O.L.O. was established January of 2020. I’ve always been great at organizing. While on my healing journey I made the connection with clutter and our mental health. After much training I combined my organizational skills with my emotional intelligence training, and it birth Soul Organization for Lifelong Overcoming. Years prior to publishing I wanted to publish a magazine. That desire evolved into books when I saw how telling my story unaltered provided yet another level of healing I did not expect. I journal and that helps but, it was something about using my voice to bring awareness to dysfunction that liberated me.

DMP: DMP: How did you become a Certified Belief Therapist and coach? Can you give any insight on the background behind these areas of expertise?

LN: A belief therapist is someone that helps people uncover thought processes and beliefs that hinder them from reaching their higher self. A lot of what we are made to believe growing up does not serve us, but because of who made the impression it is hard to let it go. I come in to shake that up and liberate people with truth. I was a life coach first. I helped clients get organized and accomplish their goals. A lot of them were struggling with moving forward because of what they believed about themselves. I combined coaching

and belief therapy so that I could help with healing thought processes and see them to their goals.

DMP: Tell us about your new release.

LN: My new book Alone In the Dark, My Battle With Depression is a follow up from two of the anthology projectsI contributed to: In Spite of it All and Dear Single Mom. In these books I opened up to the world about how depressed I was as early as 2nd grade. Alone In The Dark went into further detail explaining how I was predisposed to it and how I overcame.

DMP: Where can your new release be purchased? LN: Alone In the Dark is available on Amazon in physical and digital format.

DMP: Outside of writing and running your business, what can we find you doing?

LN: Relaxing when I need to, reading & studying, and helping my daughter with her business.

DMP: Are you on social media?

LN: Yes! Facebook: Author LaToya Nicole, Instagram: @solocoaching, LinkedIn: LaToya Nicole

DMP: What can we expect from you in the near future? LN: Expect more books, collaborations, and black women winning!
